Sabbath school is a time for members, usually during the hour before the church service begins, to study, grow and dialogue together. Depending on the church, there may be classes for adults, youth and children.
In The Review and Herald, June 10, 1880, Adventist Church pioneer Ellen White describes the importance of Sabbath school, particularly for youth and children. She says, “Another work in which all may engage is gathering children and youth into the Sabbath school. The young may in this way labor efficiently for the dear Savior. They may shape the destinies of souls. They may do a work for the church and the world the extent and greatness of which will never be known until the day of final accounts, when the ‘Well done’ is spoken to the good and faithful.”

Sabbath School Investment
Sabbath School Investment started in 1905 when, following the examples of J.H. Kellogg and James and Ellen White, Lottie Lottman of Hamilton, Missouri encouraged children in Sabbath school to save their money to buy seeds, plant them, sell the produce, and give the profits to world mission work. Since then the Investment program has grown to fund nearly 10% of all mission work.
