The St. Louis Central Church recently relaunched our women’s ministries program, Central Sisters, during a special breakfast at the church. Our motto, “We are women of God who are Living Loved,” is based on Galatians 2:20, which says “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Following the counsel found in Ephesians 4:29 to only speak that which is helpful for building up others, Central Sisters’ mission is to create a culture of encouragement, both in words and actions. Symbolically, we strive to give “silver boxes” of encouragement, as eloquently outlined in the book Silver Boxes by Florence Littauer. We plan to have fun and fellowship together as we share the good news of the gospel and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Last week, on International Women’s Day, we joined with other women’s ministry groups from around the St. Louis metro for a Prayer, Praise & Fellowship rally. Attendees were inspired by stories from various women’s ministries programs and other personal ministries. Each attendee received a beautiful card reminding them of how God’s sees women. The text for that evening was Psalm 68:11, which says, “The Lord gave the command, and many women carried the news.” We concluded the evening by singing “Go Light Your World (Carry Your Candle)” as we symbolically held up candles.
Last Sabbath, our leadership team was charged for service with a prayer of consecration by Pastor Rob Alfalah as he and the elders gathered around us. We are excited to see how the Holy Spirit will use Central Sisters this coming year.
