Recently, the Hispanic ministries department held their annual Hispanic Ministries Festival at the Multicultural Church for the Community in Kansas City, Missouri.
The event started Friday evening. The main speaker was Julio Chazarreta, the Hispanic ministries director for the Southern Union. He presented on this year’s theme, “Ven-ID” — “Come and Go”. The festival also featured the musical group “4Faith”. This group of four vocalists, which represent three different countries, traveled from Hollywood, Florida to sing at the festival.
Attendees gathered Saturday morning for a full day of events. The morning program featured several musicians from different churches and a devotional by Chazarreta.
The main church service again featured many musical performances, including some by 4Faith. The service also included a flag parade with representatives from each Hispanic nationality present. While the flag bearers entered, presenters gave facts on Adventism in each country represented.
Later in the service, church members performed a skit on Jesus’s power and love. Following the skit, several individuals were gifted a Bible for their creative evangelism in their respective churches. The Bible is an archaeological Bible in Spanish that is not yet realized and was specially printed for the event. The Bible will be available in August.
Conference President Dean Coridan made a short address to the congregation, followed by Chazarreta’s final presentation which emphasized the need to get involved in mission and be alive spiritually.
In the afternoon, attendees were invited to eat together and fellowship. After lunch, Abelardo Rivas, pastor for the Multicultural Church for the Community was ordained. During the service, three pastors — Tamay, Juan Acosta and Gilberto Moral — were also recognized for 30 years of ministry service.
The festival closed with a concert by musical guests 4Faith.
