The 2019 Iowa-Missouri Women’s Retreat recently took place in Des Moines. Every year, two offerings are collected during the retreat: one for retreat expenses and another for a special mission project.

This year our hearts were moved to reach out to the Bahamas because of the devastation they experienced from Hurricane Dorian. We wanted to send the message to our brothers and sisters in their dire circumstances that they are not alone.

We learned from Susan Brewer, women’s ministries Leader of the Oak Grove Heights church in Rogersville, Missouri, that ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) would match any cash donations, doubling our impact.

The amount collected from the ladies at the retreat totaled $2,695.50, so after the match from ADRA we were able to provide $5,391.00 in assistance to the Bahamas!

Thanks be to God for providing the encouragement, help and funds so that the women of the Iowa-Missouri Conference could express their love and support for our brothers and sisters of the Bahamas. What a fellowship and joy divine to be connected with others by grace through faith working in love.
