Three Iowa-Missouri elementary schools were recently awarded grants to be used for technology improvements at their schools.
College Park Christian Academy, in Columbia, Missouri was awarded $10,000.
“Our grant proposal was approved to provide tablets for our lower grade classrooms, Chromebooks with a charging cart to share between the upper grade classrooms, with the remaining funds going toward Lego Robotic Kits,” said Heidi Jorgenson, who teaches grades 7-9 at the school.
CPCA is one of 18 elementary schools with four or more classrooms to receive the $10,000 grant. Six senior academies also received that amount.
Prescott SDA School in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Sunnydale Adventist Elementary in Centralia, Missouri each received $5,000 grants. They were among 12 elementary schools of three classrooms or fewer to receive that amount.
“Funds will be used for a mobile large screen smart TV, a digital microscope that will display on the TV screen, and a video camera and editing software, among other things,” said Judi Thompson, principal and teacher at Prescott. “Prescott appreciates the generosity, and plans to make the most of the new equipment.”
The grants were awarded by Versacare, an independent Seventh-day Adventist healthcare services organization. Schools interested in applying for grants with Versacare should visit versacare.org.
