This month two new employees started in the Iowa-Missouri Conference.
After interviewing potential candidates, the Iowa-Missouri hired a new Camp Heritage Camp Ranger, Scott Spaid, to fill the position vacated earlier this year by Steve Patten.
For the past 16 years, Spaid has worked in the electrical field. He has also worked in flooring and carpentry.
Spaid and his wife, Alicia, have been very involved with Pathfinders and Adventurers for the last 20 years. Together they have served as the Southwest Missouri Area Coordinators for the past 10 years.
“I am passionate about educating the youth, and I’m excited to be able to share my knowledge with them,” Spaid said.
As one of the Southwest Missouri Area Coordinators, Camp Heritage Director Denison Sager has worked with Spaid for several years. He said he is happy to have Spaid join the team.
“We are excited to welcome Scott and his family to the Camp Heritage family! We have enjoyed working with Scott and Alicia in Pathfinders for several years and look forward to the energy they will bring to our camp,” Sager said.
Filling the roles of the president’s and youth department’s administrative assistant is Mary Freeman.
Union College graduate Freeman has worked at Camp Heritage for several summers. This past summer she held the position of activities director. Earlier this year, she also assisted with gymnastics tryouts at Sunnydale Adventist Academy.
Freeman said she is excited to continue working for the Iowa-Missouri Conference in her new role.
“I think my job at camp has prepared me for a little bit of what I am going to do here,” Freeman said.
Sager said he has enjoyed working with Freeman the past few summers at Camp Heritage and he is excited to have a former camp employee fill the administrative assistant role.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mary to the youth department! She has added so much to our Camp Heritage program over the past several years,” Sager said.
