The teachers from the Iowa-Missouri Conference joined together for their annual meetings to start a new school year in Des Moines, Iowa on Aug. 1-4. This was the first time all the teachers met in person in two years due to the pandemic.
The meetings began Sunday evening with an outdoor supper where the five new Iowa-Missouri elementary education teachers were introduced. The new teachers are Francie Hamilton, head teacher for grade K-8 at St. Joseph; Karli Kuehmichel, principal, and grades 5-8 teacher at Des Moines; Geraldine Markham, head teacher for grades K-8 at Rolla; Ashton McMillan, grades 3-6 at St. Louis. Cam Bieksza joined the staff in January as teacher for grades 1-2 at Columbia and was officially introduced at the meeting.
Sandra Doran creator of the Three Angels for Kids started our meetings on Monday morning. She presented the curriculum for grades K-8 that presents the Three Angels’ Message is an age-appropriate manner for clear understanding and application. Chris Juhl, Head Principal for Forest Lake Academy, ended out meetings with a presentation on Standards Based Learning on Wednesday. Throughout the meetings the education and treasury office shared important information and procedures with the teachers.
Opportunity was provided for the teachers to share how God had led the previous school year and current challenges and prayer requests for the upcoming school year.
The Iowa-Missouri Conference is blessed to have the teachers we have who serve faithfully in our schools throughout the school year nurturing children who grow academically and spiritually under their instruction.
