Students of Golden Valley SDA School in Clinton, Missouri know that learning doesn’t take a vacation. On the last day of school before Thanksgiving break, they took a field trip to Bolivar Technical College, where professors took time during their busy schedules to put science into perspective and inspire our grade school students.
Their education at GVSDA helped prepare the students for this experience. William Gray, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, showed them the body systems of a cat and the brain of a sheep, explaining the different functions of each part. He also touched on microbiology and how bacteria react with different antibiotics. Mr. Cansler performed a chemistry experiment for the students, showing the reaction between salt water and silver nitrate. Later, the students received hands-on experience in the nursing simulation lab, where they learned how to find a pulse and listened to heart rhythms and lung sounds.
This experience helped the students appreciate more fully that we are indeed “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14).
