If you drive by the Golden Valley Church in Clinton, Missouri on the third Monday of each month, you’ll see a flurry of activity and a long line of cars down the street as community members wait to receive food.

The monthly food drop is a partnership between the Golden Valley Church and Harvesters Community Food Network, a regional food bank serving families who are food insecure throughout northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.

There are currently 15 – 20 volunteers helping at the church each month, some helping bag or distribute food, and others directing traffic and signing people in.

In addition to helping meet the needs of people in the community, the food drop is an excellent opportunity for church members to make connections with people as they wait in line. The church is currently distributing food to 125 – 175 families each month.
